Groovy Tomatoes

Today I really tried to be bold and loose with my brush strokes, the style I’ve been trying to teach myself, it’s a lot harder than it looks.  The pros make it look so easy, but each stroke is thoughtfully placed.  Something felt better today, I kept repeating to tell myself, “I like doing this, remember,” as I was painting.  That seemed to slow me down and not worry about what it will look like. : )

It did take a few layers of reds to get the tomatoes to pop like they do when I look at them.  And I really tried to focus on the shadows on the printed fabric.  I actually used this fabric in another piece (see picture below) where I stitched an image with yarn as the medium.  It’s fun to be creative.  Anyways, feeling more optimistic about painting again.  I’ve started one for tomorrow too, but you’ll have to wait and see!
